The South Tyneside Draft Local Plan proposes 1,200 new houses on the Fellgate Green Belt — a vital green space that supports rich wildlife, a 5th-generation working farm, and provides livery for 52 horses. It’s not just fields — it’s our community’s lungs, heritage, and livelihood.
If this plan goes ahead, we risk:

❌ More flooding
❌ Dangerous traffic congestion near 3 local schools

Protect Fellgate’s Green Belt – Say No to Development

South Tyneside Draft Local Plan has now been passed to an independent inspector in accordance with regulation 22. This plan includes a development of 1200 houses which will be located on the Fellgate Green Belt.

The green belt space is more than just undeveloped land — it is a vital community asset that supports an extensive and expanding range of Bio-diverse Natural Habitats, along with the fifth generation of a working farm which currently provides livery for 52 horses and employs {number to be inserted}.

Any such development on this land would not only destroy the natural habitat but also have a massive impact on Air Quality, Physical and Mental Health and Wellbeing of many residents of South Tyneside, increase the risk of local flooding, exacerbate the peak time traffic congestion onto the already heavily congested A194 Mill Lane roundabout as well as Durham Drive, which is a 20 mph residential road around Fellgate with three schools in close proximity, all of which will negatively impact air quality.

Please help put a stop to this development by signing this petition which will be used against this and any future developments on the Fellgate Green Belt.
