For September 2025
Current and Future Traffic Concerns in and around Hebburn and Jarrow : Please ACT if you have concerns and attend the Hebburn CAF Meeting on 15th September: 5:00 start at Hebburn Central.
There is also the Jarrow/Boldon CAF on Thursday 18th September at Jarrow Town Hall 5:00 PM Start (Agenda to follow but Traffic issues included).
On 8th January 2025 I raised concerns at the Hebburn CAF meeting as well as the Jarrow/Boldon CAF Meeting on 11th January, related to Current and Future Traffic Issues in and around our area resulting in ‘rat runs’ through residential streets including Monkton Village.
This was primarily related to the A194 between Whitemare Pool and Lindisfarne, Mill Lane roundabout, B1306 between Mill Lane roundabout and the A185 (Old Fire Station) and the A185 between Heworth and South Shields (through Hebburn and Jarrow). I also highlighted the fact that if the planned development was to go ahead on the Fellgate Green Belt (1200+ Houses) it would severely worsen the current situation. The primary access road from the development would be directly onto the A194 Mill Lane roundabout. In a subsequent Facebook Post many people also voiced their own concerns.
Traffic Concerns have finally been added to the Agenda for the Hebburn CAF Meeting on 15th September and the Jarrow/Boldon CAF Meeting on 18th September. https://www.southtyneside.gov.uk/article/13613/committee-meeting?a=9658&p=
Item 7 on the Agenda is a report related to concerns based around Monkton Village. These are very valid concerns due to the village being used as a ‘rat run’.
Item 8 on the Agenda is a report related to Traffic Congestion. This differs from my request for Current and Future Traffic Issues to be added to the agenda. This report appears to be totally focused on issues based around the A194 which incidentally would include the access road from the planned development. Unless I am mistaken, apart from Page 3 on the report which briefly mentions my initial areas of concern. There appears to be nothing connected to traffic concerns in and around Hebburn and Jarrow which I believe have major issues!
I have written to the Chairs of both the Hebburn and Jarrow/Boldon CAF Committees and all Councillors who attend voicing my concerns. If you yourself have concerns and I know many of you have, I urge you to attend the Meetings and voice any concerns you have to YOUR elected Councillors. https://www.southtyneside.gov.uk/…/List-of-councillors…
